Success Story

My name is Michael Davis, but I used to be called "Mr. 38.50." When the cops told me to stop panhandling I would tell them that I just needed 38.50 so that my wife and I could stay at the Palo Alto Hotel for the night.

After years of drug abuse and homelessness I joined the DST with ulterior motives. However, I quickly saw the team members thriving. People I used to do drugs with were getting housing, jobs and even cars. I decided to take the team seriously and soon enough I was promoted through the ranks.

Now I am the Operational Supervisor of the program. I manage all the government and non-profit contracts. I have an apartment in Santa Clara and I have my own car. I am able to provide for me and my wife and now I have a sense of purpose. Now I give back to the program everyday.

My goal is to help the streets team expand further into San Jose. I see the Streets Team getting huge and I want to be a part of that.
