HOW TO HELP

The Downtown Streets Team uses financial donations to fund additional positions and grow the Team! DST is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation; all donations are tax-deducitable.

It takes approximately $8,600 to get someone off the streets permanently. A far cry from the $60,000+ it takes to keep people in our prision system and emergency rooms.

+ + $5,000 pays for transportation for the team for an entire year!
+ + $2,500 pays for shelter for six people while they find jobs!
+ + $1,000 pays for a whole year of our Mentor Program!
+ + $500 pays for a whole year of Job Search Skills training for the entire team!
+ + $100 buys shirts and supplies for a 4-person crew!

There are many ways that individuals and corporations can help Downtown Streets Team:

The Downtown Streets Team runs on a very tight budget. Any business supplies (paper, printing services, office supplies) or professional services you could offer the organization would be very welcome. You can also donate services that we could use as special awards for team members, such as gift certificates for dinner, movie passes, massages, or bus passes.

We have an ongoing need for mentors to assist team members transitioning from the program to the work force. Just one or two hours a month of your support (in person or on the phone) can help people negotiate routine employment issues that can seem especially challenging in a new and unfamiliar environment. Your mentorship can also help us broaden the range of work skills we can teach our team members.

Consider hiring the team to do odd jobs around your business or community. We have many skills on our team. Experience includes:

Yard Work
Event Set Up and Clean Up
Moving
Trash Removal
Window Washing
